Energy, Skill, and Community Shine at the 2nd Annual Installer Competition
This year’s 2nd Annual Installer Competition brought together installers, apprentices, friends, and families for a day full of energy, skill, and camaraderie.
The atmosphere buzzed from start to finish—music filled the air, kids ran and played in the Kids Zone, and everywhere you looked, people were smiling, catching up, and cheering on the competitors.
Competition Highlights
The installs showcased both speed and precision, with standout moments that kept the crowd engaged. One memorable highlight came when Steven Harbert rolled out his 100-pound roller, demonstrating the kind of detail and technique that set the top competitors apart.
In a close finish, Jesus Heredia was the first to complete his install, ultimately placing third after final judging. The top two spots went to Thomas Sanchez and Steven Harbert, recognized for their sharp execution and attention to detail. Judges noted that success often came down to the small things—rolling floors and walls correctly, wiping surfaces clean, and setting the 45-degree centerpoint with precision.
The Vibes
Beyond the competition, the event was all about connection. Families, friends, and apprentices came out to cheer on the installers, creating a welcoming, supportive atmosphere. While attendance was slightly smaller than last year, the event experience was elevated and the number of contestants grew—bringing fresh energy and excitement to the day.
The Kids Zone was a highlight in its own right, with children laughing, coloring, and even giving axe throwing a try. It added a playful, family-friendly touch that kept younger attendees entertained while the competition played out.
Sponsors played a big role in the festivities, with three showing up to give away products and prizes. Big D’s raffle drew big smiles, especially when a retired floor layer took home tools and accessories—sparking lighthearted jokes but also reminding everyone that once you’re part of this trade, you’re always part of the family.
Of course, no community event is complete without great food. Pushing Pies served up fresh, wood-fired pizza from their portable oven, with the owner’s energy and enthusiasm matching the quality of the pies.
Looking Ahead
The 2nd Annual Installer Competition proved once again that this event is more than a contest—it’s a celebration of skill, pride, and community. From precision installs to kids playing in the Dojo Den, the day reflected everything we value: craftsmanship, camaraderie, and connection.
We can’t wait to see what next year brings!
