Attention to Detail Wins Again: Cesar Haro Takes Home the Southwest Title!

The recent CFI Regional Installers Competition in Phoenix, Arizona, brought together some of the most skilled professionals in the trade. The challenge wasn’t just about speed—it tested precision, craftsmanship, and the ability to work under pressure.

Among the competitors, one individual’s quiet focus and meticulous work caught everyone’s attention: Cesar Haro.

The Challenge

Contestants faced a test of skill and creativity, working on an 8’ x 8’ mockup with a herringbone insert. To raise the stakes, the design was framed by a 12” border running parallel to each wall, adding an extra layer of complexity. With just seven hours on the clock, they had to balance speed and precision to pull off this intricate layout.

At first glance, the instructions seemed simple enough. But hidden in the work order was a key detail: “Make Sure Everything is Equal.” For most, this didn’t seem like a big deal. They used full 8” planks for the border, leaving a 4” strip against the wall to complete the look.

Cesar, however, saw things differently. Those uneven pieces didn’t sit right with him. Instead of sticking to the obvious, he made a crucial adjustment—cutting the planks down to 6 inches each. This created a symmetrical border where every piece was perfectly aligned and intentional.

It was a small detail that others missed, but it made all the difference. Cesar’s keen eye and thoughtful approach not only elevated his work but also showed the kind of craftsmanship that truly sets him apart.

Consistency and Craftsmanship

Cesar’s performance in the competition wasn’t a surprise to those who know him. Whether he’s on-site at a project or in the heat of competition, his approach is always the same: deliberate, precise, and consistent.

He’s the type of professional who doesn’t just complete the job—he ensures it’s done right, down to the last detail. His ability to pause, think critically, and adjust when needed is what makes him such a valuable part of the team.

A Word From Dave

Cesar has been working for MCF for over 8 1/2 years now. I worked side by side with him for two of those years and he’s always had a great work ethic, very communicative, and consistent. If he’s ever unsure about something, he doesn’t guess—he reaches out to clarify.
