Project Manager/Estimator

Two openings: Inland Empire / Los Angeles · Orange County

Department: Sales & Project Management

Reports To: Sales & Marketing Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $70,000 – $80,000 base salary + bonus + allowance

ABOUT THE ROLE

Mike's Custom Flooring is a commercial flooring company known for delivering exceptional quality across

public sector, K–12, and institutional projects throughout Southern California. We're growing — and we're

adding two Project Manager positions to support our IE/LA and Orange County territories.

This role is part field, part desk. You'll start by learning estimating — how we price projects, read specs, and

compete for work — then grow into managing projects from bid to final install. Some days you're out

measuring a school gymnasium. Other days you're deep in a spreadsheet building a bid. You need to be great

at both.

No flooring or construction experience is required, but it is a plus. What we care about most is who you are and how you think.

WHO YOU ARE

We're looking for someone with a specific mix of skills and character. This is not a role for someone who just

wants to check boxes — we want people who are genuinely curious, take ownership, and want to grow

long-term with the company.

You think like a problem solver

  • You dig into the root cause of issues rather than patching symptoms

  • You think about long-term solutions, not just what gets you through today

You're a people person

  • You're easy to talk to and naturally build rapport with contractors, architects, clients, and teammates

  • You're comfortable introducing yourself and following up — on a job site, in a meeting, over email

  • You're willing to put yourself out there, make mistakes, and learn from them

You're comfortable with technology and numbers

  • Spreadsheets, math, and software don't intimidate you — they're tools you lean on

  • You can sit in front of a computer for hours and stay focused and accurate

  • You're detail-oriented and organized — you don't let things fall through the cracks

Your mindset

  • Adaptable — fast pace energizes you rather than overwhelms you

  • Resilient — you're grounded, realistic, and don't spiral when things get complicated

  • Growth-oriented — you want to learn a craft, not just do a job

  • Collaborative — you communicate openly and ask for help when you need it
