Why Did PATCRAFT Spec Carpet Tile For The New Freddy Freeman Baseball Locker Room?!
It looks like carpet, feels like carpet, and it's square like carpet tile—so it must be carpet! But why would anyone install carpet in a men's baseball locker room? That's the question the Facility and Operations Teams at Orange Unified School District asked when we sent them samples for their submittals.
Well, this isn’t your typical carpet tile. This innovative product, known in the industry as a “hybrid,” looks like carpet tile but wears and cleans like luxury vinyl tile (LVT). Patcraft and MCF are specifying this versatile product in locker rooms, workout areas, and maintenance offices throughout California. It's the perfect solution for spaces that need a bit of softness and slip resistance but can get dirty quickly.

Part of Patcraft's Spatial Palette Collection, this eco-friendly flooring is made from recycled plastic bottles instead of traditional nylon. By repurposing plastic bottles, which don't break down in landfills, Patcraft offers a sustainable flooring solution that helps reduce environmental waste. Freeman contributed $500,000 toward the $1.6 million project, which includes a locker room, a team meeting area, a coaches' office, and larger batting cages, as reported by the Orange County Register.
